Is the Texas Grid an Easy Fix?
It seems it might be easy for many of us Texans to give a quick opinion on the recent grid disaster during Storm Uri. In fact, I have personally heard suggested solutions from more people than I care to count. But is it really that easy? Michael J. Coren, who reports for Quartz and covers climate, energy, and economics, does a great job in the article linked below. It is a breath of fresh air to see a reporter consider the economic side of issues regarding climate change. Not too often are the two variables of climate and economics discussed side by side.
In any event, the issues around our grid might be a moving target as the industry is changing so quickly. Coren seems to put a nice bullet in Warren Buffet’s offer to “help out Texas” with a quick $8 billion dollar investment which includes a very nice 9.3% guaranteed rate of return…Thanks, but no thanks Buffet!
